"WAYNE DANIELS MAKES HISTORY"

Rembrandt. Vermeer. Michelangelo.  Now you can add Wayne Daniels to the list.

Some of the greatest paintings ever produced were commissioned for the walls and ceilings of historic and famous architecture such as The Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo in Rome.  And now although the Manlius Library is not situated in mid-16th century Italy, it just received a mural by a local artist who may go down in history as one of Central New York's greatest "Masters."

Artist Wayne Daniels, a regional oil painter from Cazenovia New York, has studied and produced paintings reminiscent of the "Masters" for years.  Recently, Art Collectors and Manlius Library Patrons, Karen and Joe Porcello commissioned Wayne to create a mural for the library in the Children's Story Room, a room in which Karen has spent much time volunteering and reading to children.

The mural is clearly Wayne Daniels constructed with lush color, a distinctive landscape and luminescent layers of oil paint.  However, it features a literary mouse on a stack of books reading to seven foot tall dragon.  These endearing creatures make the mural delightfully unique to the library and the Children's Story Room.

Just as Wayne based his painting on a historical figures book, Enraptured Dragon by Maxfield Parrish, on September 21, 2007 (the library's unveiling of the mural) Karen Porcello based her special story hour reading on a mythical dragon.  That day, the whole room was filled with awe from the children, the parents, the visitors and especially from the art-critics.

Wayne Daniels' Mural can be viewed at the Manlius Library during library hours.  Children's story hour featuring stories read by Karen Porcello are open to the public for children ages 2 1/2 to kindergarten as follows:  Wednesday & Thursdays at 10:15 am and at 1:15 pm. & Fridays at 10:15pm.  Please stop by or call the library at 315-682-6400 for more information.

Wayne Daniels shows and sells his artwork exclusively through The Gallery located at 58 Albany Street in Cazenovia.  For more information about Wayne Daniels' work, contact Jennifer Schutzendorf The Gallery of CNY:  thegallery@gallerycny.com or 315-655-3707.
