Capturing images lost by time, artist Linda Wesner at The Gallery of CNY in Cazenovia NY.

Artist’s Statement: I am intrigued by the slow, subtle impact of nature on the landscape. I also feel an urgency to capture images that are rapidly disappearing to suburban development. In my colored pencil drawings, I work slowly, building detailed layers of soft, glowing color for a highly rendered work. In my bolder oil paintings, I work quickly, brushing paint spontaneously for a looser effect.  I invite the viewer to contemplate my impressions of forgotten paths, old agricultural and commercial buildings, and sunlit natural forms.

Artist Biography:  Linda, a realistic landscape artist working in both colored pencil and oil, grew up on a farm in Central New York, surrounded by traces of agricultural life. She observed that familiar old barns and houses, fields and roads were changing, either by man or by nature, and she filled her sketchbooks with studies of these images.  Linda's award-winning work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, and is in numerous private and corporate collections, including those of IBM, General Motors and Coca Cola. She is represented by galleries in Florida, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio. She is also a Signature Member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and a juried member of The National Association of Women Artists, Inc. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in art from the State University of New York, Oswego.  Linda currently resides in Lewis Center, Ohio.
