Visiting the Gallery

  in Cazenovia New York

Make a day or night of it in Cazenovia New York when visiting The Gallery of CNY.  Some of my favorite things to do...

Enjoy ice cream, stroll Albany Street, spend time with family, see friends and discover Cazenovia...

Cazenovia is fast becoming known as a great art community.  So come browse the galleries, get to know local artists & enjoy really good art in your 'backyard'. As always children welcome and encouraged to attend the shops and events.

The Gallery of CNY:  Along with its collection of period paintings, will be featuring "The Barns of Madison County" through October 23rd which includes paintings by Barbara Nuss, George Van Hook, Richard Henry, Deborah Dougherty Wester & Diane Menzies. All over Upstate we are losing our agricultural heritage, and the structures that are part of it - especially barns.  There is a remarkable array of barns in our Central New York region.  We have everything from English barns with their amazing joinery to long hops barns to a coble stone barn a little west of our area.  Although this show is about fine paintings, it is also a way of documenting a type of vernacular architecture that is disappearing before our eyes.

Open House:  5-7pm, show through October 22nd, Show will also be on-line at the gallery's website.

The Chameleon Gallery:  "Likeable",  "Funny", "Whimsical" world of ceramic sculptures by Bill Stewart will be at Chameleon Gallery, Cazenovia, NY.

Opening reception  Friday,September 24 , 5-8 PM  goes through November 14.

Cazenovia Artisians:  Welcomes two of its newest member-artists, Shawn McQuire, and Deborah Dougherty Wester.  Shawn creates wood-fired functional pottery, as well as decorative raku pieces, concentrating on minimal forms with simple lines.  Deborah is a well-know local oil painter whose subjects include rural landscapes and scenes, including Cazenovia Lake, chickens and cows.

Reception:  5-8 pm

Catherine Cummings Theatre / Jazz 'n Caz will be in full swing:  7:30 p.m: The Brubeck Brothers Quartet;  9:15 p.m: Recognizing and thanking Laurance Luttinger - this year's recipient of the Jazz `N Caz award;  9:30 p.m: Grammy-nominated Jane Monheit Quartet, and 11:00 p.m: Lincklaen House/Seven Stone Steps, Jazz After Hours

All Other Galleries & Shops in the Village:  Open until 8pm, including Isabella's who will be hosting a 'ShaKinross Cashmere Trunk Show'
