Seven of her newest pieces will at the gallery tomorrow, Friday, July 31st from 5-7pm. Many of these pieces are going to a show in another gallery, and Nicora has agreed to let me present them first to collectors and key patrons of The Gallery of CNY. A true opportunity for us. Nicora will be here for the gathering from 5pm-7pm. The gallery will be open until 8pm for Finally Fridays in Cazenovia.

MAKE IT A NIGHT
OF ART IN CAZENOVIA!
The Cazenovia Public Library is also hosting a reception for Cazenovia watercolor artist, Tom McCobb. The Cazenovia College Gallery is showing "Cazenovia Artists: A Retrospective of Four Fabulous Women" Stop by The Cazenovia Artisians, The Chameleon Gallery & Marsella Galleries all right here in the village! See below for more information about these events...

More about Friday night, Nicora Gangi & the paintings:
At the gallery will be a series of seven paintings of sunlight hitting the trees throughout the day just completed by the artist. Nicora's work has been chosen to be highlighted in this September's edition of American Art Collector, our industry's magazine. The artist has long been nationally acclaimed for her pastels and for her unique expression of light. For the first time, Im seeing this same personal expression of light in her oils.

Through the Trees Paintings
"Linking the many encounters that I had while growing up near a large forest of tall trees, this series of paintings from my visits to Skaneateles & Tully New York, draws from those experiences. The trees with their wide canopy of branches always offered shelter and a treasure grove of hidden memories. My days were spent watching the sunrise or sunset in these forests which imprinted my memory with their indelible colors and textures, their voids and fullness to capture those moments in paint for future days spent without a forest nearby in which to dwell, or receive inspiration. Daylight momentarily sets on the trunks and on the leaves below in a grove of trees guiding the viewer in and through the cathedral of forest life while bearing witness to the quiet spirit within." - Nicora Gangi

Aldous Huxley once wrote, “We apprehend Him in the alternate voids and fullness of a cathedral; in the space that separates the salient features of a picture; in the living geometry of a flower, a seashell, an animal; in the pauses and intervals between the notes of music, in the difference of tones and sonority; and finally, on the plane of conduct, in the love and gentleness, the confidence and humility, which give beauty to the relationships between human beings.”

Artist Bio & Statement:
Nicora Gangi, nationally recognized for her pastels, received a grant in 2006 from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation to teach herself to paint in oil. In her oils - just as in her pastels - she uses color and value to depict dramatic light and reflections. But even more and beyond technique, Nicora captures and celebrates the beauty of anything she paints. Contact The Gallery of CNY for artwork available by the artist. Artist’s Statement: Everything has its testing point in the eye, an organ which eventually involves the whole personality and as much of the world as can be got into it. To see the world rightly, to learn to 'stare' at it, is difficult, sight is a moral sense. We must have our eyes open if we are going to see 'what is' for what it is. My aim as an artist is to use the eyes of my heart to penetrate this concrete world order to realize at its depths the ultimate reality; and to render the sublime - that aesthetic experience of being overwhelmed, filled with awe at something so majestic it evokes a sense of the One who created this astonishing universe. -Nicora Gangi 2008 Artist Biography: Born in Indiana, Gangi was educated at the Hartford Art School, Montclair State College and Syracuse University where she received a BFA and MFA. Her fields include both fine arts and art education. She was faculty for 27 years at Syracuse University, Studio Arts and Design Programs. She lectures and exhibits regionally and nationally. In 1998, Gangi was one of three finalists chosen by Artist Magazine for their yearly competition. In 2000, she was featured in the Pastel Artist International magazine. Design magazine, CMYK, has featured her work several times and in 2001, she was awarded the honorable Harris Popular Award, from the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester NY. In 2003, Gangi was the featured artist in American Artist magazine and American Artist Highlights Still Life magazine featured her pastels in 2005. The Pastel Journal awarded Gangi the Grand Prize for use of pastels in April 2005 and International Artist featured Gangi in their spring 2006 issue. The "Calvin Institute of Christian Worship" website featured Gangi's work in April 2006; also in 2006, Gangi's editorial artwork was in "Pray!" and in "Discipleship Journal". A number of her pastel paintings are published in the books, Pure Color and Finding Your Visual Voice and on book covers by Crown & Covenant Press and Shepherd Press. The Comstack Review and The Stone Canoe Journal of Arts features Gangi's work.

At the Cazenovia Public Library:
Art Exhibit by Tom McCobb

During August and September, 2010, visitors to the Cazenovia Public Library Art Gallery will enjoy an exhibition entitled “Fifty Years of Painting” by artist Tom McCobb. Openings for this exhibition will be held on Friday, July 30th and Friday, August 6th from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Library. On July 30th, art enthusiasts will also be able to enjoy on opening by artist Nicora Gangi at The Gallery of Central New York, 58 Albany Street, Cazenovia, NY. All are cordially invited.
McCobb’s painting adventure began in his early teens. Although interrupted by a short period in the military and a long stint in corporate America, he continues his painting to this day as he nears is 80th birthday.
Though largely self-taught, his experience also includes formal training. His first teacher, Harold Walcott, took him through the basics of drawing and the techniques of oil painting. He also encouraged McCobb to take along a copy of Ted Kautzky’s book, Ways with Watercolors, when he went into the service. The inspiration of Kautzky and his enthusiasm for watercolor have been major influences on McCobb’s work ever since.
In 1980, after encouragement from Merrill Bailey, McCoff began painting full time. He worked with several artists who influenced his work: Carl Schmalz--watercolor techniques, Zygmund Jankowski--visual and emotional impact, Christopher Schink--color and design, and Serge Hollerback--figure and composition. McCobb also studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the National Academy of Art in New York City. All of these influences, along with an active program of self-study, have coalesced into a vibrant, loose, strong, and individualistic painting style.
The towns, farms, and distant vistas along Route 20 in upstate New York; the passing rural character of his native Connecticut; the atmospheric views of Cape Cod; and the subtle colors of the Southwest--these are McCobb’s favorite subjects. Painting on location all year round, and preferably in the morning, McCobb knows and experiences what he paints.
To watch McCobb paint a watercolor is a lesson in courage. In the execution of a painting, he will sometimes load a large brush with color and almost attack the painting. He doesn’t hesitate to try something new if he thinks a painting needs it, and he is not shy about taking risks. While watercolor is his preferred medium, oils and pastels are often used as well to develop recurring themes. This boldness and freeness are apparent when encountering a McCobb painting.
McCobb’s philosophy about painting is illuminating. “Painting is an adventure,” he states, “a revealing encounter between the artist and his subject. The academic definition would be something like this--a personal reaction recorded and conveyed through the formal elements of shape, line, color, tone, etc., defining the artist’s concept. All or any of these elements may be the initial inspiration for a painting. And their skillful arrangement can produce a pleasing image. But, that’s not the whole story. There must be emotional content to a successful painting.”
“In today’s world,” he continues, “technical advances in imaging, color choices, composition, and even drawing produce skillful renderings. The question remains, where is all this technical proficiency taking art? In my opinion, we are relying too heavily on mechanics and not enough on content. Emotional engagement is sadly missing.”
In addition to instructing painting classes in his studio, McCobb taught a popular painting class for many years at Round Top Center for the Arts in Damarascotta, Maine. His professional credentials include several one-man shows and juried group shows, as well as painting workshops from coast to coast, where he is a popular instructor. His work is included in over 200 private and corporate collections here and abroad.
The Art Gallery at the Cazenovia Public Library is open on week days from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 pm and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm. For more information, contact the library at 655-9322 or at www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.

At The Cazenovia College Library:
"Artists of Cazenovia: A Retrospective of Four Fabulous Women"

Exhibition features work by Dorothy Riester, Prudence and Priscilla Burg, and Lucy Eliot, and culminate in an auction of Eliot’s paintings.
The auction is scheduled for Aug. 1. Proceeds from the auction will provide funds to continue the Summer Art Series in 2011.
Exhibition runs July 23, 24, 25, and July 30, 31, and Aug. 1
Auction - Sunday, Aug. 1

Summer Gallery Hours:
Fridays – 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays – 1 to 4 p.m.

For more information, contact Jennifer Schutzendorf at The Gallery of CNY. 315.655.3707, mobile 315-559-6156 or thegallery@gallerycny.com

The Gallery of CNY

58 Albany Street, Cazenovia, NY 13035

CONTACT
Jennifer Schutzendorf
315-655-3707 Gallery phone
315-559-6156 jennifer’s mobile
thegallery@gallerycny.com
www.gallerycny.com

From The Cazenovia Republican:

As Doug Campbell, editor of The Cazenovia Republican, dubbed it in the newspaper last week, TGIF, was a great night to be out in the village of Cazenovia. On the last Friday of April from 5-8pm, many came out to kick off spring and celebrate the warm weather with ice cream cones and enthusiasm. All the local shops and galleries stayed open late and three merchants, Cazenovia Jewelry, The Gallery of CNY and Lavender Blue each hosted events in their stores.

"Finally Fridays", a community seasonal event started by local Cazenovia merchants two years ago, when all stores stay open until 8pm on each of the last Fridays of the month, is a great way local residents to get out and enjoy the village of Cazenovia. Through a collaborative effort, Susan Machamer, Jennifer Schutzendorf & Judith Warburton each decided to create their events around fine art, craft and flowers.
A couple notes about Drayton Jones’ show & review by Katherine Rushworth from The Gallery of CNY:

I am not an art critic, nor do I claim to be a particularly good writer. However, I have seen a lot of artwork and know what Drayton Jones is making look so easy in his watercolors is quite difficult. Having known Drayton, his artwork and having represented his work here at The Gallery of CNY for the last three years, I feel compelled to add to the words by Katherine Rushworth, the art critique for the Syracuse Post Standard. Katherine reviewed Drayton’s show at The Spring in Fayetteville NY shortly before the show opened in November 7th. You can read the review below or click above to the left to go to the Syracuse paper’s website.

1.	First Drayton’s use of watercolor paint, choice of bold color and stroke is naturally skillful. Take his naturally intuitive artistic sense, add a lot of hard work (and work hard he does), and what we get is an artist who is very important to our time and community. Drayton is making a mark in our time with his paintings. He not only captures scenes that many of us recognize and know, but also that are changing and disappearing before our eyes. He paints ‘beautiful’ work, but more he paints what is happening right now. Like I say about many of the artists of The Gallery of CNY, he is capturing history, more he is making history for the Central NY region.* He often chooses to not leave anything out, which mean telephone polls, street and business signs, and aging, often disappearing barns and old family farms.

1.	His perspective and what he choses to paint is unique to Drayton. Even though he is influenced and studies many great artists, Drayton is capturing whatever he sees in the moment - and most importantly our moment in time. First, the fact that he paints ‘plein-air’ (a french term for outdoors) must be acknowledged. He works from one of the most challenging still-lifes on earth, the outdoors. Even with both the light and scenes constantly changing, Drayton is determined to paint what he sees in front of him. He sketches, makes numerous composition and value studies, and then finally when he is ready, he puts the watercolor down quickly. Sometimes, he paints the same scene 3-4 times until he gets is ‘right’. The paintings you see by Drayton are the end result of a dynamic process, a process that yes, comes naturally to him but also for which he works diligently.

1.	When at the show, be sure to check out two of Drayton’s pieces (two of many of my favorites) in which he captures extraordinary depth and perspective with his simple use of composition and color. ‘Closing Camp’ and ‘Tin City’ pictured below. Be sure to examine the paintings up close, but more, take advantage of The Spring’s big room by viewing each piece from across the room. In ‘Closing Camp’, Drayton successfully captures the view through the trees and out into the lake. One can easily imagine the drama of the lake opening up behind the trees. Not an easy task. In ‘Tin City’, one can easily walk down the wood walk on the left and through and under the bridge. But more, notice the strong bright and bold colors in the back of the painting. This use of color is both unusual and daring when seeking distance in a painting. He captures both an intimate scene of the bridge but also a doorway through which the painting dramatically opens in the back and out to the right.

1. 90% of the artwork in Drayton’s show was completed within the last year (not the last three years). From a stack of watercolors and inch deep, he picked out pieces for this show. Only 2-3 paintings from the entire show were not completed within the last year. In September of 2007 - just two years ago, we had a show here for Drayton (which sold out) in which we chose work completed by Drayton within the couple years prior. And since, we have sold over 15-20 paintings. Drayton sells and shows current work.

1.	One last note, although Drayon humbly agreed with Katherine’s comments about his figure drawing and know he has room for improvement, (we’ve spoken about this at length over the last few years), I want to make note about his figures. There are very few artists, landscape artists in particular, who even approach the figure. Drayton’s figures are both uncomplicated, brave and complement his painting style right now. In the piece below right, the piece would be completely different if the figures were absent. It would be about a quite dock and building. Instead it’s a busy, lively, sunny afternoon near the water.

*	and beyond... as he he has sketch book and paints at-hand during family travel, vacations, for various workshops and plein-air events and when he spends a few winter months in Naples Florida.

ABOUT THE GALLERY: The Gallery of CNY located in the heart of New York State features original artwork by the regions most collectible artists. Jones now lives to paint. Well, maybe he finds time for an occasional round of golf; but studio time is what defines his days and satisfies his soul.
Through Dec. 12, an exhibition of approximately 30 of Jones’ watercolors, completed over a three-year timeframe — 2006 to 2009 — remain on view in the gallery at The Spring Center for Cultural and Spiritual Unity in Fayetteville. The show demonstrates Jones is very much an artist in the making: still developing his technique, mastering his medium and refining his style. But, it’s clear he has a strong eye for composition and, as some of the most recent works suggest, he’s well on the way to discovering his own, distinctive voice.
Landscapes, seascapes and harbor scenes dominate Jones’ subject matter, but there is also an interior scene, a couple of florals and a few examples of the urban/industrial milieu. In general, he is able to find an engaging, naturally occurring moment in his surroundings and then crops it within the painting, inviting us in to discover it with him. His hand is free, quick and creates a strong sense of spontaneity.
“I prefer to paint ‘all in one go,’ which helps to prevent the paint from being overworked,” Jones writes in his artist’s statement.
His style over the three-year period has borrowed from John Marin, Raul Dufy, Charles Burchfield and to a lesser degree, Winslow Homer. The earliest works show an artist still echoing the voice of others and wrestling with his medium.
We see in the most recent works, those from the past few months, that Jones is becoming more confident in his handling of watercolor and more willing to take risks with style and composition.
The deficiencies of the earlier works result from Jones’ tenuous control over his medium and shaky drawing skills, specifically his inability to render the figure. In fact, if there’s one piece of advice I could offer Jones, it would be to spend some time learning how to draw the figure. It will improve his over all drawing technique, as well as his specific ability to draw the figure.
In pieces such as “Canadian Pacific,” “Busy Beach, Naples, Florida,” and an untitled piece of a room claiming a portrait over a mantle, the figures are clumsy and elusive in form in an uncomfortable way.
In “Northside,” two three-quarter length figures profiled in the foreground interrupt the visual flow of the painting like an inappropriately punctuated sentence.
But having said all of that, Jones has ability. He possesses a natural eye, the desire to speak in a unique way and the apparent discipline to keep working at it. His later pieces, those from the past few months, suggest he is finding his way through the styles of others to his own.
“CNY Farms” fractures the composition into Cezannesque geometric planes of pattern and color, while still extending a hand to realism. And in “Go Gate,” an interpretative scene of Colgate University, Jones shows a much freer hand and more daring use of his medium than in the earlier pieces.
Jones has been working seriously, daily for only the past few years and the progress he’s made from some of the earliest works in the show, to those of the past few months, is noticeable. Only time will tell just how far Jones is able to push himself, his technique and his medium.

Katherine Rushworth, of Cazenovia, is a former director of the Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center (State University College at Fredonia) and of the Central New York Institute for the Arts in Education.

George Van Hook spent August 11-14th in Cazenovia New York to paint “en plein air”. This is a great honor for Central New York, Cazenovia and fellow Gallery CNY artists, as internationally acclaimed George Van Hook is making history by capturing our area and time with his brush.

Carlton Manzano and Nicora Gangi joined Van Hook to paint during his visit. Artwork of each of the artists will be available through The Gallery of CNY. Please call or email for photos of work or stop by to see as soon as Friday, August 28, 2009.

The Gallery of CNY strongly believes that each of these artists, all committed full-time to their art, is making a mark in history. It’s our generation’s responsibility to support these artists as previous generations have done before us from the European Old Masters to the Great American Turn of the 19th Century Artists.

More about Internationally Recognized artist:

American Born, 1954 - George Van Hook’s paintings have been exhibited for over 35 years throughout the United States, Europe and recently in China and Japan. Van Hook’s painterly style follows in the tradition of the impressionists. Inspired by both a love of nature fostered by long hours painting “en plein air,” Van Hook paints with gusto and passion, bringing a freshness and immediacy to the rural scenes where he lives in upstate New York. His landscape paintings of the Central New York rolling hills capture the changing light that only a master’s touch can create. His fly fishing paintings painted on location on well-known trout streams are sought after in this country and in Italy.

Van Hook grew up in the Philadelphia area where he spent a great deal of time studying the masters at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and immersing himself in the world-renowned Bucks County Impressionist and the Brandywine art traditions from the early 20th century. Van Hook was educated at Oberlin College in Ohio, and later received his Bachelors of Art at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California in 1977. While in California, Van Hook was drawn to the works of the late 19th and early 20th century California Impressionists and won over a dozen awards and prizes. This interest naturally led him to Europe where he studied painting in Italy and France, absorbing the works of the old masters from his daily visits to the Louvre. Upon his return to the U.S., George quickly established his reputation as an award winning artist, garnering Outstanding Young Man of America Award in 1983, and becoming a Finalist in Portraiture for The Artist’s Magazine Annual Art Competition in 1999. In 2000, he was awarded the Grand Award at the Grand Exhibition in Akron, Ohio.

A noted figurative artist, George’s paintings hark back to the works of William Merritt Chase and were the subject of an article “Painting Figures in Interiors and Landscapes” in American Artist Magazine, written by M. Stephen Doherty in December, 2001. Like Chase, Van Hook paints people engaged in an outdoor activity or pensively posed in a sunlit interior. Doherty writes, “George Van Hook has updated that theme with depictions of young women in garden settings who seem lost in thought or amused by children at play; or outfitted men casting their lines in a trout stream. His paintings display the Impressionist interest in color, light, and rich paint, yet the figures and settings are decidedly contemporary.”

George Van Hook’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries in California, Washington, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey and New York. His work has been exhibited widely in the United States including exhibitions at Grants Pass Museum of Art in Oregon and The American Museum of Fly Fishing in Vermont. George also frequently exhibits his work at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, Vermont. In France his work has been shown at Atelier des peintures de l’abbaye and Le Mairie. In Japan, Van Hook had a solo exhibition of over 70 paintings at Gallery Enatsu in Hiroshima. In 2004 and 2006, George van Hook was invited by the Italian Museum of Fly Fishing and the Archives of Rome to an inclusive three week stay on their behalf to paint the Italian countryside.

“The experience of seeing is the most important part of the process….My aim is to translate that experience onto the canvas. My eyes are so much better at that than the lens of the camera….” “I feel a kinship and continuity with the entire flow of Western painting since the Renaissance….Having a sense of the larger flow and importance of Western art makes it easier to remain unaffected by the vagaries of quickly passing art fads…"
“Collectors tell me they like my passion for painting. I am visually interacting with the objective world, but I go beyond that to bring my own sense of passion and commitment to the work. I paint everyday and hope to do so until the end.”
-George Van Hook
Watch for more about the feature coming soon.

The Gallery of CNY’s located in the heart of New York state specializes in landscapes by the most successful and original full-time working artists in Central New York. Our mission is to get the work of our artists into serious collectors hands and museums, hence building the artists' career and value of their work. We believe the artists we represent are making history for CNY just as artists of the Hudson River School made history. The Gallery of CNY's artists study together; they influence each other and they are inspired by the same surroundings. The majority of our artists including George Van Hook, Nicora Gangi, Joseph W. Sosnowski are recognized and have received acclaim both nationally and internationally.

Among these artists, Wayne Daniels, a regional oil painter and Cazenovia resident, has studied and produced paintings reminiscent of the 'Old Masters’ for years. With a deliberate and time-staking glazing technique he creates luminous landscapes reflective of Central New York and has become one of the gallery’s most highly sought artist.

Words of Wayne Daniels: "In my landscapes, I try to recapture the depth and luminosity of the oil paint that was for the most part lost when the impressionists abandoned the methods of the old masters. I feel that while a brighter pallet and greater spontaneity was gained with impressionism, the jewel like translucency that can only be achieved with the oil medium was sacrificed.

I build up my paintings in thin, transparent layers, laying one color over another until the correct tonal and color balance is reached. I also build areas of impasto which after they have dried, are again overlaid with thin glazes This ultimately allows the texture underneath to show through. To me painting is about the contrast of light against dark, bright colors with earth tones, thick impasto paired with wafer thin glazes of paint.

It is much more time consuming to paint in this way, but to me the results are worth it and I believe it’s what draws collectors to my work." - Wayne Daniels, July 2009

Mr. Ridlon also contributed a 1970’s acrylic piece from his private collection by Gordon Muck, entitled “Gladiolas.”

Up and coming artist Elizabeth Cummings Monroe displayed her acrylic donation entitled “Desert Landscape.” Jennifer Schutzendorf, owner of The Gallery of CNY, displayed her oil piece entitled “After Wayne’s Moon”. In addition, Ms. Schutzendorf presented a pastel by Nicora Gangi and a watercolor by Drayton Jones which were contributed to the event at cost by The Gallery of CNY. In total over $15,000 in artwork has been accumulated by the Library for the fundraising event.

The fundraiser is part of the capital campaign for the Cazenovia Public Library. It will be held on July 26th at the Cazenovia home of Jennifer and Joe Basic. Tickets purchased for the event will be entered into a raffle to win selected pieces while others will be auctioned. Tickets to the event will be available for purchase at the end of the month at the Cazenovia Public Library and The Gallery of CNY. For more information contact Jennifer Schutzendorf at The Gallery of CNY at 315-655-3707.

Tickets for the Golden Ticket Event Fundraiser will available for purchase beginning in June at the Cazenovia Public Library and at The Gallery of CNY. Tickets are $75 each, $90 for patrons. Invitations will be mailed to Members and Friends; however, everyone is welcome to purchase tickets.

News Release from The Caz Indendent - cazindependent.com
The Cazenovia Public Library announced plans today to host its first annual “Golden Ticket Event” as part of its $163,000 capital campaign to fund needed structural improvements to the library.
The fundraising event will be an evening of …Fine Art and Hors D’ouevres to be held on Sunday, July 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the home of Cazenovia residents Jennifer and Joe Basic.
The event will offer five pieces of artwork for silent auction, and the balance of the pieces, approximately 20 pieces in total will be given away to those holding the lucky Golden Tickets. Each attendee at the event may hold “a winning ticket” for a piece of fine artwork that has been either purchased or donated to the event by some of Cazenovia’s and New Woodstock’s most celebrated artists. Artwork by local artists such as Jim Ridlon, Jane Egan, Drayton Jones, Nicora Gangi, Roger Demuth, Richard English, Sylvia Wyckoff, Patricia McGrath, Deborah Wester, Mary Padgett, Gordon Muck, Diana Slodowitz, Jennifer Schutzendorf and Allyn Stewart will be at the event, to name a few. Over $14,000 in artwork has already been collected for what is sure to be one of the most exciting events of the summer.
“The Gallery of CNY was instrumental in helping us choose artwork for the event and Jennifer Schutzendorf enthusiastically discounted the price of many of the paintings so that we could afford several great pieces all at once. Additionally, many of the artists donated or discounted their paintings in generous support of the library. Jim Ridlon is donating artwork of his own and has even donated a piece by Gordon Muck from his personal collection,” stated Jennifer Basic, the Event Chair and Library Trustee.
“The capital campaign has been established so that we may begin a permanent fund to help us preserve our historic building which has been a centerpiece of our community for over 150 years,” stated Kristi Andersen, President of the Library Board Trustees.
Oneida Savings Bank has generously offered to donate to the event and support our library and local artists. According to Rick Stickles Executive Vice President at Oneida Savings Bank, “Our Bank is pleased to be a part in helping the Cazenovia Community and our Libraries throughout Madison County.”
The Cazenovia Public Library is located on Albany Street in Cazenovia. The original library was built as a private home in the 1830s by John Williams. In 1890 the home was purchased by John Hubbard who donated it to become Cazenovia’s Public Library. The library was expanded to its current size in 1996.
Today over 450 people of all ages visit the Cazenovia Public Library daily, taking advantage of over 55,000 titles, a children’s story room and a community room. The original building provides additional meeting spaces, a reading parlor and museum complete with Indian artifacts, pioneer implements, and an Egyptian mummy!
Tickets for the Golden Ticket Event Fundraiser will available for purchase beginning in June at the Cazenovia Public Library and at The Gallery of CNY. Invitations will be mailed to Members and Friends; however, everyone is welcome to purchase tickets.

Sosnowski. Ad Copy:

Who is Joseph W. Sosnowski? That’s the same question collectors, museum directors and art critics have been asking us since we first discovered his work. Sosnowski is a self-taught emerging artist who is determined to capture the atmospheric quality of light in each of his oil paintings. Already hitting the canvas with that undeniable “it” factor, we believe he has a promising future. So who is this Joseph W. Sosnowski?
