Artist Statement:   Painting is my passion and light is the defining element,  Whether on the craggy surfaces of an old barn or the delicate translucent petals of a peony, it is the light that describes the objects.  My passion is challenged by these interesting patterns of light and dark and the subtle textures and nuances of shapes.  My attraction to certain subjects reveals my inner desire to escape the pressures, obligations, and demands of life in the 21st century and to retreat to places that soothe and comfort me.  Many of my paintings are reminiscent of an earlier time and place, synonomous with a perceived simpler and less harried era.

Artist Biography:   Barbara Nuss received her BFA from Syracuse University and attended The Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore Maryland. She is published by North Light Books (14 Formulas for Painting Fabulous Landscapes, 2004), Jordan Publishing and International Artist (100 Ways to Paint Landscapes, 2006).  Nuss is a member of various professional art organizations including the Oil Painters of America and the Washington Society of Landscape Painters.
